EP of the week: “Kintsugi” By SAEMO

SAEMO is an up and coming artist based out of Lawrence, MA. Originally from NYC. Who just recently released an album called "Kintsugi '' on September 28th, 2021. A 3 part collection of EP's titled "The Gallery Series". Representing broken pieces being molded back together with Gold. Each song has an enticing message.

SAEMO is known for delivering hard hitting lyrics that are conveyed with precision, over experimental, unconventional production that borrows different aspects from a wide gamut of genres and influences. He makes it his aim to not only inspire people with his music, but to use it as a conduit to proclaim a message that will revolutionize an entire generation.

The EP is successful from “Guarded (feat. BiaJavier)” to the powerful “pieces Ft Elvis McFly & Queen Laura”. 5 infectious tracks that gave us hope in Hip-Hop again.

“Kintsugi” is the possibility of a moment out of time, through a magical musical journey:

1- Great to have you on our blog. Please, introduce yourself?
What up what up! This is SAEMO. I am originally from NYC but I'm fortunate enough to call Lawrence MA home.

2- What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?
I am originally from NYC. I was introduced to HipHop in the Bronx when I was in the 4th grade. HipHop felt like home. It was raw and authentic and it enabled me to dream. I wrote my first verse in the 8th grade and it was like therapy for me. It made me feel whole and I found a unique avenue to truly express myself. After I recorded my first verse, I never turned back.

3- Tell us about your new ep. And what’s the story behind it?
My new Ep is titled Kintsugi. I was fascinated by the art of mending broken items with goldand Making the cracks/ scars beautiful. It’s part one of a three part collection of EPs that I call “The Gallery Series.” This EP was inspired by the artist that repaired me, my wife. It was a challenge to go outside of my comfort zone and really let my audience in. This is but a fraction of the story and I look forward to releasing parts two and three.

4- What makes your music unique? How would you describe it?
What makes my music unique is the methodical conceptual approach that I take. I like to structure songs, artwork and full projects like movies. Every aspect is thoroughly considered and connected. I really rap on these records. Being that i'm from where i'm from, I am very intentional about my delivery and I consider myself an emcee so I ensure to go as hard as I can. I won't dumb it down for the sake of attention or relatability.

5- What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
My advice for upcoming artists is to stay working, Stay pushing the boundaries of your thought process and never stop learning. My favorite teachers growing up were the artists that raised me with their music. Don't conform for anything less than what you deserve. People connect with real experiences. Come from a place of honesty and believe in yourself, The universe will match the energy.

6- Who are your biggest musical influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?
My biggest musical influences are lyricst like Nas, 2Pac, Biggie, Outkast, Jay Z, Wu-Tang, Lupe Fiasco, Black Thought, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Big Pun, Fat Joe, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, JID, EarthGang and the list goes on. I am sonically inspired by producers like DJ Premier, Kanye West, Flying Lotus, Nujabes, Mobb Deep’s Havoc, 9th Wonder and so many more. My dream collaboration would be with Black Thought & Andre3000 over a Kanye West Beat. One can dream right?

7- If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?
My one message to my fans would be to never stop dreaming. Dream as big as possible and chase after it til you make it your reality. Even the greatest of all time was once a novice. Stay focused and keep pushing.

8- What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?
Up Next for me would be completing work on the Gallery series. The second EP which is currently being crafted is about 60% ready and the third is about 90% complete. I also want to shoot, direct and edit the music videos for all projects and I also want to complete all the visual art for the music. I’d love to go on tour and take the show on the road and after all that’s done, I hope to drop a full length album.
