MAR. unwraps "Not The Same" Music Video

MAR.’s new music video, “Not the Same,” has officially arrived. The mythical and fashion-forward video was filmed on location at the National Arboretum in Washington, D.C., and costars ballroom Icon & Hall of Famer, and Miss Continental champion Stasha Sanchez (as seen in HBO Max’s Legendary).

A fan favorite since Begin was released, “Not the Same” highlights MAR.’s lyrical prowess over a gritty 90’s Rap track mixed with an addictive house beat as he confidently solidifies his position in the ever-emerging LGBTQ rap game. Rather than deliver a predictable visual heavy on the track’s club and dance vibe, MAR. instead transports viewers to an intergalactic dimension where being fashionable and fabulous are the law of the land.  Lush exteriors against a sun-drenched background create the perfect setting for MAR. and Stasha to frolic in a land of planets and moons, Grecian architecture, and doppelg√§ngers.  Whether serving the runway or sharing a Kiki over tea as MAR. spills the tea through his verses, this party is clearly invite-only. Topping the video off with a fierce dance number backed by a voluptuous troupe of dancers in an ode to ballroom and self-confidence, MAR. yet again delivers another banger that proves when it comes to the current competition, they’re “Not the Same.”

“Not the Same” is the second music video single from MAR.’s debut album ‘BEGIN’. It follows the success of the album’s previous single and futuristic music video for “Like That”. Since Begin’s release in December 2020, it has received favorable reviews, and garnered two 2021 Pop Smash Radio Awards nominations; one nomination for Top Dance Song for “Not The Same” and winning Top Song with a Social Message for “Black Money” (featuring Wuhryn Dumas).
